Lights, Camera... Design?

Hello, I’m Kyle, a UX Designer with a serious addiction for merging a love of story- telling with a deep understanding of complex technical problem-solving. Not the most subtle approach to UX Design. Let’s figure out how I got here.

The First STEMs of Design

My academic journey into the world of design began by building a solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering. Although I didn’t complete the full program and earn a degree, this phase of my education was instrumental in developing my analytical and problem-solving skills. I tackled complex technical problems, engaged in ambitious design challenges, and learned to approach challenges with a methodical result- focused mindset.

This technical background provided me with a strong foundation in systems thinking and an ability to dissect and address intricate issues—this analytical mindset is something I carry with me into my UX work, ensuring that my designs are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional

While engineering satisfied my intellectual curiosity, as my interests evolved I found myself drawn to the power of storytelling and the emotional impact of visual media. This led me to pursue a degree in Film, where I delved into the art of narrative development and visual storytelling. Through coursework and hands-on projects, I honed my abilities to craft compelling stories that captivate audiences, evoke strong emotions, and create lasting impressions. This experience gave me a keen eye for detail, an appreciation for aesthetics, and a

This experience gave me a keen eye for detail, an appreciation for aesthetics, and a deep understanding of how a strong narrative experience can drive user engagement and interaction. This creative exploration would come to have a profound impact on my approach to UX design, where I now strive to tell compelling stories through the interfaces and experiences I create.

To merge my technical expertise with my creative passion, I ventured into the field of User Experience Design. I attended a Trilogy UX bootcamp, where I was introduced to the principles of design thinking, user research, and the importance of empathy in design. Eager to deepen my knowledge, I also completed Google’s Coursera program, gaining additional practical experience in wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. These experiences solidified my belief that great design lies at the intersection of logic and empathy, where data-driven insights meet an understanding of human behavior.

Each of these different and unique programs equipped me with the knowledge to use the tools and methodologies needed to create intuitive and impactful user experiences. Reinforcing my ability to merge creativity with functionality.

I’m particularly passionate about the potential the world of design can have for driving innovation and positive change. Whether it's helping to design interfaces that simplify a complex process or crafting a journey that delights and excites users at every touch- point, I strive to push the boundaries of what's possible in UX design.
